Highlights of 2009 (Pt 1 Dad's 70th Celebration)
Posted by: charlotte on Dec 26, 2009
I quit writing letters at Christmas when I heard someone carry on about how much she hated them. It had never occurred to me that people hated them; I love them. I save them for a time I really have to devote to them and it's like a gift to me, even if I barley know the family.
That's why I was really stung when I heard her say, "I hate those letters, they are so bla bla bla ..." I shudder to admit I am so self conscious that I all but quit writing them but it's been a challenge to share the highlights of the year ever since.
I do have some great things to share and thought I would do it here. Since this is on the World Wide Web, however, I may make it a bit less personal and detailed but I still share some of the incredible things that happened in 2009. I feel confident anyone who hates these letters is not reading.
2009 was a huge year for us!
I turned 40 and both of my parents turned 70, we moved and we made our TV debut. I'll start with my dad's gift to himself that included us.
My father's grandparents had an incredible home in Kansas City, MS. When I say incredible I mean I've seen pictures of if all my life, it truly was unbelievable. My father's grandfather was an owner of the Kansas City Star and while much of the country was facing The Great Depression he and his they were hiring people to do insane detail work on their home and help with daily living, part in partial to keep people employed.
